The first Amazing Joe’s opened in early 2008 in Muncie, IN by a group of 3 guys with a combined total of 50 plus years of experience in casual dining. We were certain that we could provide the highest quality cuts of aged beef for a price that any average joe like us can afford. Our steaks and service are undeniably the best in the casual dining industry… we guarantee it! If you are not completely satisfied with your event for any reason, it’s on us. YOU’LL NEVER WASTE A PENNY AT JOE’S. We choose to repurpose locations that maybe didn’t work out for another concept for one reason or another. We feel by doing this we improve the look of the older buildings and immediately become a good neighbor in any town. We purposely only have 4 or 5 TV’s in our bar areas and no neon’s or memorabilia decorations as we are not trying to compete with the many great sports bars out there. Gibson’s was started in 1940 by Earl & Mildred Gibson (Ann Sheridan’s mom & dad). Gibson Arena was originally constructed as an ice skating rink. They could convert to a roller skating rink when there was no ice on the floor. The rink was converted solely to roller skating in 1949. Back in the day when there was still an Ice Plant on the property they also produced what many locals still proclaim to be the best ice cream they ever consumed. George & Ann Sheridan purchased the rink in 1969 from Ann’s parents and continued the family owned tradition. In 1979, they purchased an additional skating rink in New Castle to expand the family fun. As time moved on and their children grew up, Beth married Mark Griffith and they continue to manage the New Castle rink. Tom Sheridan now runs the day-to-day operations of the Muncie rink and also keeps the music playing during school parties & public sessions.
